So you’ve been blogging for a while, sinking a lot of effort into writing helpful articles for your target market. Would you like to get more mileage out of them? You can!
I’m a big movie fan. And just like blog articles, movies are pieces of content. Let’s assume a lot more resources are sunk into the average movie than into the average blog article. But bear with me for a moment.
A movie’s production and quality is only part of what makes a movie successful. All sorts of additional content creation and marketing also have to take place. The cast may go on a press tour, being interviewed by dozens of media outlets. Multiple trailers are released over time. Individual movie theaters have to make sure their movie listings are up to date on various online sources.
That’s a lot of work! But it’s all necessary for the majority of movies to actually be successful.
You may be freaking out a little. Don’t worry, I’m not suggesting you put nearly the same amount of effort into each blog article that you would into a movie. But there are a few things you do that will help you get more mileage out of your blog.
Just like with the movies, these are more about getting the word out than about the actual production of your content piece.
Here are some ideas to consider.
Send email blasts
We’re big fans of MailChimp. But regardless of the specific tool you use to do this, maintain an email list and send out emails when you publish a new blog article.
This can be automated (using a tool like Zapier) or done manually. Be sure to share your blog articles on the social media platforms you where you have a presence.
Share social media graphics
Have a graphic designer create a series of graphics based on your blog article that you can then share on social media (with a link back to the blog).
Turn it into audio
Turn your blog article into an audio file. You can make a full blown podcast out of it, or you can do it utilizing a smart phone app like Anchor, then embed that in your blog and share it on social media.
Turn it into video
Again, you can convert your text article into video manually or use an automatic service. But get that video made, then share it on YouTube, Facebook, and other places.
Turn it into a slideshow
You can also turn your blog article into a slideshow and share it on sites like SlideShare. In fact, if you’ve already turned it into social media graphics, you can just assemble those into a slideshow.
This may sound a bit overwhelming. But whether you do it yourself or hire someone to help you, develop a system that works for you, and it will get easier over time. And you’ll find that more people are able to find and appreciate your blogs!
