At Backslash Creative, we’re always looking to stay ahead of the curve and bring the latest insights back to our clients. That’s why we’ve been hitting the road, attending key events and conferences.

These trips are so important for our team development, staying updated with industry trends, and making valuable connections. I’m excited to share highlights from our recent trips to the Sandler Summit and the HubSpot Inbound conference, as well as our experiences at WordCamps, reflecting on the knowledge we’ve gained and how it’s shaping our strategies.

Sandler Summit

We’ve been attending the Sandler Summit regularly since its second year, and we’ve experienced both in-person and virtual events. Here are some key takeaways from our recent participation:

Networking Opportunities: The Summit was a fantastic chance to connect with industry leaders, peers, and other Sandler clients. These connections help us stay ahead in the fast-paced world of digital marketing.

Innovative Sessions: We attended various sessions that covered the latest trends and techniques in sales and marketing. These sessions weren’t just educational—they gave us actionable insights we can use in our projects.

Fantastic Speakers: We’ve been fortunate to hear from some amazing speakers, many of whom we know personally. Great speakers have included Mike Crandall, Jay Schwedelson, Kevin Hallenbeck, Andrew Wall, Dave Mattson, and plenty more.

Inbound (aka HubSpot’s conference)

Each year, HubSpot’s conference provides significant insights that hugely influence our work. As an example, here’s a recap of our key takeaways from a recent Inbound conference:

Customer Connection: HubSpot CEO Yamini Rangan talked about the importance of creating real connections with customers, beyond just managing them. This means providing context, fostering community, and diversifying content distribution channels like TikTok and influencer marketing.

Community Building: Dharmesh Shah, HubSpot’s co-founder, introduced the I.D.E.A.L. framework for building communities: Identity, Diversity, Engagement, Action, and Learning. This framework helps create meaningful and engaged communities around shared interests.

Sales Efficiency: HubSpot’s Kyle Jepson gave practical tips for optimizing sales processes, highlighting the importance of clear, milestone-based deal stages and using customer perspectives to drive sales.

WordCamps (aka WordPress conferences)

We’ve also attended WordCamps, the WordPress conferences. These have been invaluable for several reasons:

Plugin Selection: Through hands-on demonstrations, we’ve been able to make informed decisions about which plugins to use, ensuring we choose the best tools for our clients’ needs.

Networking: WordCamps have helped us build a global network of WordPress experts. This community is a great resource for collaboration and support.

Staying Updated: Attending WordCamps keeps us on top of the latest web developments, which is crucial for our ongoing work on client websites. We’ve been using WordPress for well over a decade now, and these events help us stay current with its evolution.

Reflections and future plans

Attending these events has been incredibly beneficial for our team, providing fresh perspectives and actionable strategies. Moving forward, we plan to:

Implement New Strategies: Apply the insights gained from the Sandler Summit and Inbound conference to our current projects, enhancing our service offerings.

Continue Learning: Regularly attend industry events to stay updated with the latest trends and technologies.

Share Knowledge: Use what we’ve learned to benefit our clients, offering them the most current and effective marketing strategies.

Our road trips to industry events like the Sandler Summit, Inbound, and WordCamps play a crucial role in our continuous learning and growth. By staying engaged with the latest developments and building strong industry connections, Backslash Creative is well-equipped to deliver innovative and effective marketing solutions to our clients.
