Why gratitude is important to our team

In 2022, Tim and I completed an Organizational Excellence program through Sandler to help take our business to the next level. Thanks to Jim Wilcox and Mike Crandall for such a great course! The program challenged us in expected and unexpected ways.

One of the things we did early in the course was really define our values. We had worked with a consultant friend a couple of years earlier to list our values, but this really helped us define them, learn how to apply them, and share them with our team.

Values attract like-minded people, which is why they are now included in our job listings! They also serve as a guideline for the services we want to provide as a team to our clients.

One of our core values is gratitude. We believe that being grateful is something we should do every day, both for our own mental health and to be appreciative of others.

Demonstrating gratitude

One of the biggest ways I like to show gratitude is through service to others. We volunteer at T&S, and Tim and I also volunteer in other ways, including helping people both in the community and people we know through church.

Typically when I’m not in work mode, I’m in mom mode. I also do my best to demonstrate gratitude at home with my family, hoping to be a good example for my kids.

An attitude of gratitude can help in any situation!

Workplace culture

Gratitude in the office goes a long way here. Our team is small but mighty, and showing gratitude to each other keeps us close and striving for greatness. I like to tell our team members when I’m grateful, but also buy them gifts on special occasions and take them out to lunch regularly.

As I mentioned, one way we show gratitude as a team is by volunteering on a regular basis. We also often offer special deals on our services to nonprofit clients to help support their missions.

In a world that can often be fast-paced and stressful, taking the time to show gratitude can make all the difference. Defining and sharing your values can help attract like-minded people and serve as a guideline for providing quality services. While volunteering and offering special deals to nonprofit clients can be a great way to demonstrate gratitude, there are countless ways to show appreciation in both the workplace and at home. Whether it’s a simple thank you or a thoughtful gift, taking the time to express gratitude can lead to a more positive and fulfilling life. So why not find a way to show gratitude today?
