As a graphic designer, I probably use Pinterest more than the average male. I find myself creating boards and looking for inspiration for web design, logo creation, print design, and loads of other design projects almost every day. But did you know 40% of Pinterest users are men?
Your ideal client may spend more time on Pinterest than you realize. Or maybe your product or service is a good fit for Pinterest.
If either of those is true, you may need to start marketing your organization on Pinterest. But what are some of the best practices for doing so?
If you want to make the most valuable use of your time or money invested, here are a few facts you’ll want to know. And if you’re more of a visual person, feel free to click on our infographic at the bottom of this blog post.
1. Pinterest is extremely sharable
Pinterest pins are reported to be 100 times more sharable than tweets. You can pin something from anywhere on the internet, but it’s widely known that repinning is far more common than pinning. As a result, pins on Pinterest are shared many times and have a much longer shelf life than any of the other most popular social media platforms.
2. You can have a business account
Yes, a personal account on Pinterest is great. But if you want to market your business or nonprofit, you need to look into a Business Account. Business Accounts can do things that personal accounts can’t, including utilizing paid ads.
3. Certain types of blog posts will do better on Pinterest than others
If you utilize blogging as part of your content strategy, you should know that certain types of blogs tend to do better on Pinterest than others. Consider including the following in your blog to get more traction on Pinterest:
- Infographics
- “How to” guides
- High-resolution photography or design
