Whether you pronounce it with a hard or soft G, animated GIFs are here to stay. They’re now built into social media platforms, which makes them easy to use and misuse.

Here are five examples of great animated GIFs used by businesses and nonprofits.

1. MailChimp

Mailchimp put together tons of custom animated GIFs for their social media and even wrote an article on their animated GIF project.

Here’s my favorite:

2. NASA

NASA uses their GIFs to educate their audience, especially on Twitter. In November 2017, they posted this animated GIF of four small research satellites with a link to more information.

3. Wendy’s

No list of companies using animated GIFs would be complete without Wendy’s. They do a great job on Twitter, and seem to really have a sense of humor.

4. Wistia

Not surprisingly, the online video hosting company Wistia is a master of moving pictures. They do a great job communicating their company culture with animated GIFs.

5. Tim Priebe

Okay, I may be a bit biased here, but I do occasionally use animated GIFs in a hilarious way, both in my own social media and for T&S. You can see the ones I’ve set up of myself on my GIPHY page, but here’s my favorite:

Oh, and by the way, it’s definitely pronounced with a soft G.
