Social media in general has been moving more and more toward the visual end of the spectrum. All the major players have been putting emphasis on photos and images, with LinkedIn being no exception.

On June 4, 2014, LinkedIn made a number of changes for its premium members. I covered those changes in a previous article. Possibly the most visible change that can be seen by all LinkedIn members is the new background image at the top of the profile of Premium members.

Of course, this is similar to the cover image Facebook and Google+ rolled out in 2012. In fact, LinkedIn already had something similar (but smaller) for its company pages and showcase pages.

LinkedIn provides twenty-two of their own photos, or you can upload your own. Suggested dimensions are 1400 pixels wide by 425 pixels tall. The file has to be a JPG, PNG, or GIF under 4MB.
