Basically everyone has a mobile device now. Not even counting tablets, mobile devices were responsible for 54.8% of global website traffic in the first quarter of 2021. We’ve seen that B2B numbers tend to run a little less, but it’s still enough traffic that you need to make sure your mobile website is good.

Worried your mobile website might stink? You might be right. Let’s be honest, have you even looked at it lately?

Without further ado, here are six signs your mobile website stinks.

Sign #1 – It looks bad

If you think your mobile website looks bad, that’s not a good sign. If someone else tells you it looks bad, that’s definitely not a good sign. Your mobile website should look good. When you or your design agency is creating it, be sure to check it on a mobile device, not just on your computer.

Sign #2 – It looks different

It’s a bad idea for your mobile website to look totally different than your desktop version. If I feel like I have to get on my computer for your website to work right, I’m way more likely just to leave and not come back.

Sign #3 – Phone numbers aren’t linked

If someone is looking at your mobile website, they’re on their phone. If they go to your website and see a phone number, they expect to tap the number and for their phone to call you. Link your phone numbers, people!

Sign #4 – Pop-ups make the site unusable

While I don’t care much for pop-ups, I get that occasionally they make sense. But they can make a website load too slowly if you’re not careful. And sometimes it can be difficult to close them. If you have a pop-up, make sure you optimize it for the mobile version of your website.

Sign #5 – Slow load times

If your website takes a while to load, it really ticks me off. Not to mention that Google now penalizes websites even more for slow load times. Make sure your mobile website loads quickly.

Sign #6 – Too much content

It doesn’t matter if it’s your mobile website or desktop website, too much content on the page isn’t a good thing. But it’s even worse on a mobile website. It’s a small screen! If I have to scroll for a million miles to get what I want, I’m leaving. Sorry, not sorry. Bye.
