Ten Instagram accounts you should follow
Are you a hard-core Oklahoma City lover? Also, do you love Instagram? At T&S, we love our community and exploring all the great sites and sounds the metro has to offer. Plus, we’re kinda obsessed with social media.
So let’s say you’re like us and you want to follow some awesome local Instagram accounts. Your wish is my command! Be sure to check out these ten Instagram accounts that showcase the best of the best in OKC.
1. Oklahoma City Museum of Art
So, the Oklahoma City Museum of Art is hands down my favorite destination in the city. Not only does it hold the largest permanent collection of Dale Chihuly glass work in existence, but the OKCMOA holds incredible events and workshops throughout the year, and they have rotating exhibits. All of which are showcased on their Instagram.
2. Myriad Botanical Gardens
The Myriad Botanical Gardens Instagram gives me life, and it will give you some, too. Enjoy the incredible photos from around the garden, as well as all the details on upcoming events like Yoga in the Gardens, movies and concerts in the park, food truck events, garden sales, workshops, and tons more. Plus, they will often feature photos taken and tagged by followers.
3. Keep It Local OK
If you’re not familiar with Keep it Local OK, they exist solely to promote local Oklahoma businesses. They offer a yearly rewards card with discounts to tons of local favorites. Their Instagram account highlights their partners plus all things Oklahoma. Their visuals are really beautiful, so be sure to check them out.
4. OKC Farmers Market
The Oklahoma City Farmer’s Market has been around since 1928. It’s home to a weekly market as well as an event center and gathering place. It’s a great place to get involved with the community, enjoy great food, meet new people, and have a healthy, fun time. Check out their gram for details on upcoming events and markets plus amazing pics of local goods.
5. Midtown District
I think we should follow all of OKC’s various up-and-coming districts, including @uptown23rd, @wheelerdistrict, @autoalleyokc, and @plazadistrict, but Midtown’s Instagram will make you think OKC is as cool as Dallas. And really, it is. Just follow them and soon enough you’ll be out exploring all Midtown has to offer.
6. The Jones Assembly
Look, props to the team running The Jones Assembly’s Instagram, because it is everything I need it to be. They artfully showcase all of their delicious food, drinks, and exciting activities. Additionally, they are a premier concert venue and after-hours work spot—and their 22k+ Instagram followers love it.
7. Chisholm Creek
If you’re not a north-sider like me and the rest of the T&S gang, you might not realize the rate at which Chisholm Creek is exploding. You might just think, oh yeah, that’s where they put TopGolf and that fancy Cabela’s. Well my friends, soon Chisholm Creek will be bursting with a Costco, a soccer stadium, an Alamo Drafthouse movie theater, parks, and SO.MUCH.MORE. Did you hear they just had Jake Jam there? Crazy.
8. Only in Oklahoma
Oklahoma has some great sights to see like beautiful countryside and magical sunsets. This account shares the most incredible follower submissions from photos taken across the state.
9. Edible OKC
Local food and the people who make it—that’s what Edible OKC’s insta is all about. Their content is visually appealing and thoughtfully crafted. You’re sure to find your next brunch spot, date night, or happy hour watering hole through their feed. Warning: much like grocery shopping, don’t browse on an empty stomach.
10. Travel OK
Last but certainly not least, the official Instagram account of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department’s Travel Promotion Division highlights all the fun and exciting things waiting to be explored in every corner of the state. If you’re not one of their 36k+ followers, you’re missing out on some great posts that are sure to inspire your next Oklahoma adventure.
